Merry Madness: Portland & Now Boston

Portland’s been lubricating the local small business Christmas shopping experience for 13 years with Merry Madness, the one-night-a-year mass shopping and sipping party that keeps the shops open & serving tastes of wine or cocoa till 10pm.  It’s a great idea that for some indiscernible reason the Newbury Street League has passed on, but it’s a natural for the Newbs.  This year, about a dozen Newbury Street independent merchants are taking it into our own mittens & starting our own Merry Madness Holiday Stroll on Newbury Street.  At least 12 merchants have signed on to date, promising to keep their doors open and the refreshments pouring till 9pm.  At various shops there are also plans for book signings, carolers and live music.  To see list of merchants, click on the links below:

About Kathy Palmer

I grew up in NJ and Belgium and eventually settled in Portland, ME. Until missing the big city, which inspired a return to Boston in 2010, and the opening of Fish & Bone on Newbury Street. Fish & Bone and its original sibling store Fetch (est. 2000) bring together some of the things I love the most: animals, real food, great design, having an impact, the natural world, urban life, creative solutions, good community, and a good laugh. Zip is all pug, but I'm a cultural mutt.
